The Truckload Carriers Association in conjunction with CarriersEdge have named 20 trucking companies in North America the Best Fleets to Drive For. The contest, now in its seventh year, surveys carriers and drivers to determine the 20 that offer the best workplace experiences for drivers.

  • Melton Truck Lines – Tulsa, Oklahoma
  • Raider Express – Ft. Worth, Texas

To be considered for the award, fleets must operate 10 trucks or more and be nominated by one of its drivers or owner-operators.

Carriers Edge then interviews human resources representatives and fleet executives about corporate direction, policies and programs.

Fleets are scored on a matrix that includes: total compensation package (base pay, bonuses, vacation, sick day allotment), health benefits, pension plans, development opportunities, career path and advancement opportunities, commitment to employee growth (driver family support, employee-directed charitable contributions), team building, annual driver turnover rate and fleet safety record.

Drivers from the carrier nominees are also surveyed, with their feedback and management’s compared for the final score.

The finalists will be divided by their size and two overall winners will be selected, one small fleet and one large fleet.

The awards will be presented in March at TCA’s Annual Convention, taking place this year outside of Orlando, Fla.
