Carrier, driver sued in 2013 I-5 bridge collapse in which truck struck bridge
The Washington State Department of Transportation announced last week it has sued the carrier and driver involved in the May 2013 Interstate 5 bridge collapse that occurred in Washington state over the Skagit River. WDOT is seeking $17 million from the defendants — the cost of the response to and repair of the collapse, it says.

The for-hire trucking industry added 2,400 jobs in January on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the Department of Labor’s monthly report, released Feb. 6. It also upwardly revised December’s job gains to 11,900 — up a few thousand from the 7,300 reported in the DOL’s preliminary report released last month.
