Truck Tonnage jumps in July, index nears record high
Truck tonnage as measured by the American Trucking Associations’ For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index rose 1.3 percent in July, pushing the index closer to November 2013’s all-time high. Tonnage was up 3.6 percent in the month year over year.

Diesel continues price slide, at 9-month low
The national average price for a gallon of on-highway diesel fell another eight-tenths of a cent in the week ended Aug. 18, putting it at $3.835, according to the DOE. That’s the lowest the national average price has been since the week ended Nov. 18 and the seventh straight week the average price has dropped.
