Trucking adds 1,500 jobs in May, economy adds 217k
The for-hire trucking industry added 1,500 jobs in May on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the monthly employment report released June 6 by the Dept. of Labor. The U.S. economy as a whole added 217,000 jobs in the month.

Navistar reports second quarter loss of $297, with $2.7 billion in revenue
Navistar International announced Thursday a second quarter 2014 net loss of $297 million on revenues of $2.7 billion. That marks an improvement over 2013′s second quarter’s $374 million net loss on revenues of $2.5 billion.

Trucks carried 60.1 percent of the $101.5 billion in trade between the U.S. and North American Free Trade Agreement partners Canada and Mexico in March, according to the Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
