A bill making its way through the Senate now includes an amendment to undo some provisions of the hours of service rule changes implemented in July 2013 for at least a year and require a study by the Department of Transportation.

ATA running out of options for changing hours-of-service rule
I’m not convinced that it will take an act of Congress to make trucking’s hours-of-service rule work, but after speaking with a few folks on the front lines on Capitol Hill, I’m increasingly sympathetic to the longshot attempt. And if the play being run this morning in the Senate works, it could signal a significant shift in the dynamic between the industry and its regulators.
