FMCSA waives hours-of-service rules for propane haulers in 24 states in East, Midwest
In response to a request letter sent to the DOT by the National Propane Gas Association, FMCSA has issued an hours-of-service exemption to propane haulers in 24 states due to “extreme arctic cold weather” that has caused shortages of propane in affected areas.

FMCSA broadening out-of-service order scope to carriers with pattern of violating safety rules
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is set to publish a proposed rule in the Federal Register next week that will allow it to suspend or revoke the authority of motor carriers who have been found to have a pattern of “egregious disregard” for federal safety rules, rather than relying on results of compliance reviews alone.
