CSA data changes: Agency changes protocol to account for due process in citations
Violations against drivers or carriers that are dismissed or result in a “not guilty” ruling will no longer count in Compliance, Safety, Accountability scoring nor on driver Pre-Employment Screening Reports. The changes account for due process and any legal processes that come after roadside citations are issued.

Rules to require speed limiters, raise carrier insurance requirements step closer to publication
Two federal trucking regulations moved a step closer to publication this month, according to a recent report from the Department of Transportation: A rule to require the use of speed limiters on trucks and a rule increasing the minimum insurance requirements for carriers both were sent to the Office of the Secretary of Transportation last week.

CARB can now also require use of aero devices on tractors
An EPA ruling clears CARB to enforce similar requirements on 2011-2013 year-model tractors with integrated sleepers. CARB’s greenhouse gas rule, which went into effect January of 2010, required the use of EPA SmartWay-verified tires and other SmartWay-verified equipment on all new trucks and trailers.
