Prices increased in all regions except New England, where prices dropped by seven-tenths of a cent. The most significant increase came in the Rocky Mountain region and the Midwest region, where prices increased by 4.6 cents in each.

As it promised last month, FMCSA has updated the online portal of its Compliance, Safety, Accountability program to bring back to public view the inspection and violation data underpinning the BASIC percentile rankings. it has also brought back the so-called “absolute scores” within five of the seven BASICs.

DOT grants carriers 60 more days to comment on rule to revamp carrier rating system
The rule would replace the current three-tier rating system of “Satisfactory, Conditional and Unsatisfactory” for motor carriers with a single determination of “Unfit.” An Unfit determination would require the carrier to either improve its operations or be shut down. FMCSA decided to provide the extension to give “all interested parties adequate time to submit comments on proposals in this rulemaking.”

FMCSA is set to publish Monday, March 7 a proposed rule that, if made final, would implement a required core curriculum for new entrant truck drivers receiving their CDL and require them to receive 30 hours of behind-the-wheel training time.
