DOT grants carriers 60 more days to comment on rule to revamp carrier rating system
The rule would replace the current three-tier rating system of âSatisfactory, Conditional and Unsatisfactoryâ for motor carriers with a single determination of âUnfit.â An Unfit determination would require the carrier to either improve its operations or be shut down. FMCSA decided to provide the extension to give âall interested parties adequate time to submit comments on proposals in this rulemaking.â
