Diesel continues skid, hits lowest point since Nov. 2010
The national average price for a gallon of on-highway diesel fell in the week ended Jan. 5 to $3.137. That’s the lowest average since November 2010, according to the DOE, and the eighth straight week the price has dropped. It’s also the 25th week out of the last 27 the price has dropped.

Enforcers in the annual week-long inspection spree held in September placed 2,162 trucks — 16.2 percent of the vehicles inspected — out of service, according to CVSA. The percentage of vehicles placed out of service jumped a few points from 2013’s record-low of 13.5 percent.
